Why are reading comprehension questions necessary?
Words per minute only shows how quickly the text was passed. Questions about the main idea, connections and details provide limited but useful feedback about the meaning retained during reading.
Do three questions measure all comprehension?
No. A short question set is not a standardised examination and does not cover every inference, critical judgement or long-term memory. It does prevent raw pace from being treated as the only success measure.
What should happen after a wrong answer?
Rather than guessing for a higher score, reduce pace in the next round, notice paragraph links and recall the main idea in your own words after reading.
